Abstract
The paper explores fundamental causes of the LTC (long-term care) givers¡¯ health risks and interventions to reduce adverse health outcomes. A realist review based on contextual model connecting from social determinants of health to health outcomes is conducted with 128 relevant articles systematically selected. Literatures show that LTC givers are exposed to multiple health risks: overwhelming load of work, sexual harassment, and job stress. In comparison, it is rarely available for them to have power to control work situation or resources to deal with health risks. These
imbalances, excessive exposure to health risk vs. limited access to resources, are often caused by social stratification. These results reveal that social stratification (social context) has to be dealt with properly to reduce health risks of LTC givers.
